An eight years old boy was operated for ruptured appendicitis in a private hospital at Burdwan, about 7 days after the surgery the child started having faecal discharge from the surgical wound, suggestive of formation of a faecal fistula. The situation was psychologically very grave for the young boy as he had to leave school and his friends due to the continuous faecal discharge and bad smell coming out from his body, the boy was literally limited to the confines of his house. The parents finally decided to take the child to Bangalore in hope of cure and the child was taken to a very well-known big private corporate hospital at Bangalore which has branches all over India. The child was operated there and within few days again faecal discharge started coming out from the wound while still at Bangalore. Having exhausted all the money, they had no option other than coming back. The child suffered for further 6 months before coming to me at I Q City Hospital in the month of February, 2020. We did a fistulogram which showed the complete tract from skin to caecum. With thorough planning and bowel preparation we decided to take the patient for surgery. With four hours of meticulous dissection I was able to completely delineate the tract with all its branches from skin to the caecum. The tract was excised and caecal wall was repaired with omental patching. The child improved uneventfully and was discharged.
